And now Farago goes close! The resulting corner initially fails to result in a chance on goal before a dangerous deep cross is swung over to the far post. It manages to find Farago, but it's slightly overhit and the substitute can only hit the side-netting with his close-range header.
90' +8

A curling cross from the right flank picks out Farias on the edge of the penalty area, and the Brazilian is immediately clattered into by Bonucci. It looks to be a clear foul, but the referee angers the Cagliari players by allowing play to go on.
90' +5
The recent substitutions seem to have taken the sting out of the game, and Cagliari are now finding it difficult to push too far forward. Milan have plenty of bodies behind the ball, and they're doing well to protect their one-goal lead.
90' +4

Kessie scores, but it's ruled out! The Ivorian receives the ball with his back to goal and quickly spins round Capuano. 86'
A. Cossu enters the game and replaces Diego Farias.
Montolivo darts into the right-hand side of the Cagliari penalty area and takes on Ionita. The Moldovan has a little tug on the Milan man's shirt and sends him to the ground, but the referee doesn't believe there was enough in it and allows play to go on.
Cagliari have made another change, with Andrea Cossu coming on to replace Farias.
84'
Space opens up for Montolivo on the edge of the Cagliari box after more good play from the hosts out wide, but the midfielder can't hit the target with his slightly rushed effort on goal and sends it bouncing wide of the far post.
83'
P. Faragò enters the game and replaces S. Padoin.
Cagliari have made a late alteration, with Simone Padoin making way for Paolo Farago.
Great strike by Sau! Another quick pass forward from the halfway line catches out the Milan defence and finds Sau. The striker brings down the ball on the edge of the box and quickly shoots, but his thumping effort is parried away well by Donnarumma.
82'
Almost a great chance for Milan to make it 3-1! Borini uses his pace brilliantly to dart inside from the left wing, and he then sets up Kalinic on the edge of the penalty area with a clever pass. The striker has Suso in acres of space to his right, but he's slightly slow in releasing the ball and loses out at the vital moment.
81'
The game gets underway once again after Barella is finally able to get back to his feet. Cop then tries to take advantage of some space over on the left flank, but he's closed down well by Kessie and can't get the better of the midfielder.
79'
Barella is the latest player to go down injured after being caught on the top of the foot whilst stretching for the ball. This isn't turning into a very good period for Cagliari, and all of these stoppages are hurting their chances of getting back into the game.
78'
N. Kalinić enters the game and replaces P. Cutrone.
New signing Nikola Kalinic receives a rousing round of applause from the home fans as he comes on to replace Cutrone.

76'
D. Čop enters the game and replaces JP Galvão.
Sau goes close to equalising! Cagliari hit Milan on a great counter-attack as they storm down the left wing. Sau then cuts into the penalty area and shoots, but his strike takes a slight deflection off Biglia that sends it behind for a corner.
75'
It's a sad end to the game for Pedro, who is stretchered off the pitch to be replaced by Duje Cop.
74'
This doesn't look good for Pedro, who is still down and receiving medical treatment. He seems to be really struggling and in a lot of pain, and he may even have to be stretchered off.
72'
Pedro is down on the ground and looks to be in a lot of discomfort. He seemed to receive a knee in the base of the back from Bonucci as the two battled for the ball, and it's left the Brazilian in a heap on the floor.
70'
Suso has scored a goal for AC Milan!
GOAL! Yes, they can! Suso steps up and curls an absolutely brilliant strike straight into the top right-hand corner of the net. Cragno fully stretched himself but had no chance of reaching that!
69'
Suso cuts inside and beats two Cagliari players before taking on Barella, who catches the speedy Spaniard and gives away another free-kick in a very promising position. Can Milan make it count?

66'
A curling cross from the right wing picks out Cutrone, who brings the ball down well and then fires a deflected cross behind for a corner. It's whipped into the penalty area and back towards Cutrone, but Cragno is there once again to collect the ball under pressure.
64'
Montolivo is clumsily fouled from behind by Cigarini, presenting Milan with a great opportunity to launch the ball into the Cagliari box. It's chipped into the penalty area and bounces around dangerously, but Cragno is eventually able to deal with the danger.
63'
L. Biglia enters the game and replaces H. Çalhanoğlu.
Milan have made their first substitution as they try to get back in front. Lucas Biglia has come on to replace Calhanoglu and make his debut for the Rossoneri.
62'
A lofted pass forward is just about dealt with by Musacchio, despite a bit of a dodgy touch from the Argentine. He then knocks the ball back to Donnaurmma, who is quickly put under pressure by Farias and ends up firing the ball out for a throw-in over on the right flank.
60'
Milan try to push forward on another attempted attacking move as they desperate search for a way back in front, but they're unable to get the better of Cagliari's hard-working back line. It just hasn't been the Rossoneri's night.
58'
Half-hearted shouts for a Milan penalty! Kessie embarks on a marauding run into the box and towards goal. He gets the better of two players before going down under a tackle from Capuano, but there's very little in it and the referee tells the Ivorian to get back to his feet.
56'
JP Galvão has scored a goal for Cagliari! Assist by Diego Farias.
That was really good play by all involved, but Farias did particularly well to pick out Pedro to his right. He was well aware of what space was available around him and he used it perfectly.
GOAL! Cagliari are back in the game! A terrible pass out from Donnarumma puts Kessie under pressure, and the Ivorian quickly loses the ball. Cagliari work it forward quickly and over to Farias, who sets up Pedro to slot the ball into the bottom left-hand corner of the net.
55'
F. Kessié gets yellow.
Pedro is caught from behind by Kessie, who becomes the latest player to receive a yellow card. The resulting free-kick is chipped into the right-hand side of the Milan box, but it's overhit and can't pick out Pedro.

A bit of space opens up for Cigarini after good play by Barella out wide, but the midfielder can't get the better of Donnarumma with a low and tame effort that flies straight into the young goalkeeper's hands.
52'
Milan are unable to fully clear the danger, allowing Cagliari to come back once again. Barella showcases wonderful skill as he spins round Kessie and penetrates the penalty area, but he can't pick out a team-mate with a low cross that's well dealt with by Musacchio.
51'
Cagliari push forward on their first attack of the second half and do well to win themselves a free-kick out wide. It's swung into the penalty area and into a dangerous position, but Rodriguez is there to get a head on the ball.
49'
Suso does really well to carve out a pocket of space for himself after spinning round Capuano. He then whips a dangerous cross over to the far post and towards Borini, who sticks out a leg but can't quite make decent contact with the ball.
47'
An early Milan attacking move fails to come to anything, allowing Cagliari to counter quickly. Sau immediately fires a lovely pass over the top of the hosts' back line and over to Farias, who does well to get a chest on the ball but loses out to a vital interception from Rodriguez.
46'
We're underway once again!
45' +2
Cagliari try to push forward on one final attacking move as they attempt to find a way back into the game, but they're unable to as a rare misplaced pass from Farias rolls out for a goal-kick before it can pick out a team-mate.
45' +1
Great piece of sweeper-keeping by Donnarumma! Milan have held a line all night, and it's caused them problems on a few occasions. Another lofted pass forward almost sets up Farias to shoot, but this time Donnarumma rushes out to deal with the danger at the vital moment.
45'
The fourth official has indicated that there will be two minutes of added time.
44'
And now Farias goes close! Cagliari are continuing to cause real problems for the home side whenever they push forward. This time it's Farias who's able to test the Rossoneri back line, but his deflected shot bounces just wide of the post.
42'
Almost a chance for Mateo Musacchio! The Argentine stays up after a corner and goes close to latching onto a cross-cum-shot from Calhanoglu on the left-hand side of the penalty area, but he ends up missing the ball by the narrowest of margins. Any sort of contact surely would have made it 2-0 to Milan.
40'
Excellent counter-attack by Borini! After dealing with the corner, Milan fly forward on a blisteringly quick attacking move down the right flank. Borini is all by himself and has to head into the box without a team-mate near to him, and he eventually unleashes a thumping low shot that's well saved by Cragno at the near post.
39'
Cagliari are really enjoying themselves at the top, and they're comfortably on top as we near the half-time break. A long-range shot from Cigarini is deflected behind for a corner, and it's one that Milan are just about able to deal with.
37'
Another lofted pass over the top of the Milan defence causes problems for the home side. Pedro almost manages to latch onto the ball before going down under a challenge from Bonucci, and the centre-back is incredibly lucky not to give away a penalty.
35'
More good play by Cagliari sets up Ionita to whip a lovely cross into the Milan box. Once again it flies close to Sau, but this time the ball sails just past the onrushing striker.
33'
Barella does well as he skips down the right wing and fires a dangerous cross into the middle of the penalty area. The ball goes in search of Sau, but it's cut out by a red and black shirt before it can find the striker.
31'
Cagliari are continuing to push forward and are doing well to cause Milan problems at the back. Once again, Farias and Pedro link up nicely just outside of the penalty area before the latter shoots, and his effort gives Donnarumma a scare as it sails just over the top of the crossbar.
29'
Andrea Conti catches Pedro with a slightly late challenge and sends the Brazilian crashing to the ground, resulting in a free-kick for Cagliari in a very dangerous position 35 yards away from goal. The ball is chipped over to Pedro, who then immediately nods it down to Farias, but the striker can't hit the target with his first-time half-volley from the edge of the box.
27'
The players momentarily make their way off the pitch for a quick drinks break. The game then gets underway with a long Fabio Borini pass down the left flank and into the path of Cutrone, but it's slightly overhit and fails to find the young striker on the edge of the penalty area.
25'
Montolivo is closed down just outside of the Cagliari box and quickly shoots, but his tame effort ends up deflecting off one of his own team-mates and bounces comfortably wide of the near post.
23'
Sau hits the post! A lofted pass flies over the Milan back line and somehow manages to pick out Sau inside the home side's penalty area. He latches onto the ball well before unleashing a thumping low strike, and it's one that beats Donnarumma only to smash the woodwork.
21'
Rodriguez cuts inside from the left flank and manages to pick out Calhanoglu in a good position in the middle of the pitch. The Turkey midfielder beats one player with a clever flick and then takes on another, but he's quickly closed down and dispossessed.
19'
A headed clearance from Bonucci manages to pick out Cutrone on the edge of the Cagliari penalty area. The youngster does well to hold up the ball but is flagged offside before he can spin and shoot.
17'
JP Galvão gets yellow.
Pedro goes down inside the Milan box after seemingly managing to get to the ball ahead of Riccardo Montolivo. He immediately screams for a penalty, but the referee instead correctly shows him a yellow card for diving.
16'
Joao Pedro is bundled over on the right flank, resulting in a free-kick for Cagliari in a promising position. It's swung in by Luca Cigarini and picks out Artur Ionita, but the Moldovan can't keep his volleyed shot down and sends it high over the top of the crossbar.
14'
Space opens up for Rodriguez and the full-back decides to try and catch out Cragno with an audacious long-range strike. It fails to come off though, as there's far too much power behind the Swiss defender's shot.
12'
What a chance for Diego Farias to pull one back! A rare mistake by Leonardo Bonucci allows Marco Sau to thread a deft through-ball into the path of Farias. The Brazilian only has Gianluigi Donnarumma to beat, but his low shot is well stopped by the goalkeeper before the linesman's flag is eventually raised.
10'
P. Cutrone has scored a goal for AC Milan! Assist by Suso.
Assist Jesús Joaquín Fernández Sáez de la Torre
GOAL! It's Cutrone again! The youngster just can't stop scoring! Suso twists and turns over on the right-hand side of the Cagliari penalty area before curling a lovely cross over to the far post. Cutrone easily beats his marker and sticks out a foot, and he's easily able to poke the ball into the back of the net from a few yards out.
8'
High pressing up the pitch by the home side forces Cagliari into giving away a throw-in over on the right wing. It's sent short and eventually worked over to Hakan Calhanoglu, who tries to pick out Cutrone with a bending cross but can't beat the first man.
6'
Franck Kessie gets himself into a good position out wide on the right and quickly tries to tee up Suso just in front of him. He's unable to do so, however, as Nicolo Barella is able to stick out a foot at the vital moment.
4'
Patrick Cutrone is presented with his first opportunity to get a shot away after latching onto a cross from the right flank, but he can't beat Alessio Cragno after doing well to make decent contact with the ball.
2'
Milan quickly push forward as they enjoy a positive start to the game. Ricardo Rodriguez charges down the left wing and then curls a beautiful cross over to the far post, where Andrea Conti is rushing towards the ball. The right-back can't quite reach it, however, as Marco Capuano is there to deal with the danger.
1'
We're off! Milan get us underway, attacking from right to left.
Good evening and welcome to our live text commentary of today’s Serie A game between AC Milan and Cagliari at San Siro.
A new-look Milan side enjoyed an excellent start to the new season last weekend, as they comfortably left the Stadio Ezio Scida with a well-deserved 3-0 victory. The Rossoneri were on top throughout and easily saw off their opponents, who were reduced to 10 men with just five minutes on the clock. Franck Kessie, Patrick Cutrone and Suso all found the back of the net, with the Spaniard looking particularly bright on the ball.
Due to them entering the Europa League in the third qualifying round, Milan have already had to deal with five competitive games at this early stage of the campaign. They’ve come away with wins from all of them though, with Macedonian side Shkendija the latest to fall to Vincenzo Montella’s in-form men. As a result, a first home league victory of the season looks highly likely.
Cagliari were handed a tough start to the campaign with a trip to Juventus, and, unsurprisingly, they were unable to get the better of the reigning champions, who comfortably won 3-0. Today’s clash is set to be just as difficult, as traditionally they’ve struggled when visiting San Siro. Their last victory here was way back in June 1997, and since then they’ve managed to leave with a draw on just one occasion.
The Sardinian side did enjoy the last meeting between the two teams, however, as they ended a dismal run of form against the Rossoneri to leave with a 2-1 win. Joao Pedro and Fabio Pisacane both managed to get their names on the scoresheet that afternoon, and they’ll be aiming for a similarly positive performance here tonight.
There’s just over 15 minutes left to go until kick-off, so let’s have a look at how the two teams will be lining up this evening…
Milan substitutes: Calabria, Kalinic, Silva, Romagnoli, Zapata, Abate, Biglia, Storari, Antonelli, Gabbia, Locatelli, Antonio Donnarumma.
Milan XI (4-3-3): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Conti, Musacchio, Bonucci, Rodriguez; Calhanoglu, Montolivo, Kessie; Suso, Cutrone, Borini.
Vincenzo Montella has decided to make just one change to the Milan side that started last weekend’s victory against Crotone, with Riccardo Montolivo coming into the starting line-up to replace Manuel Locatelli in the heart of midfield.
Meanwhile, Cagliari boss Massimo Rastelli has made two alterations to the team that featured in their last outing, with Pancrazio Farago and Duje Cop making way for Joao Pedro and Marco Sau, respectively.
The two sides are making their way out onto the pitch, with just a few minutes to go until kick-off.
HALF-TIME: MILAN 1-0 CAGLIARI
Milan head into the half-time break with a one-goal lead but it's been far from plain sailing for the Rossoneri. They started brilliantly and caused plenty of problems for Cagliari during the opening exchanges, resulting in Cutrone giving them the lead with a really well-worked goal. Since then, however, it's been tough for the hosts, who have struggled to deal with impressive play by a clearly determined Cagliari front line, with Farias and Pedro both looking impressive in front of goal.
The two teams are making their way back out on to the pitch ahead of the start of the second half. Neither side have made any substitutions during the half-time break.
FULL-TIME: MILAN 2-1 CAGLIARI
It was a tough evening for Milan, but they did well to fight back and pick up three more well-earned points. Cagliari will be disappointed with the result but pleased with their performance, as they were arguably the better of the two sides throughout what was a fascinating encounter. They didn't quite have enough in the tank to beat the Rossoneri, however, who showed their class during a hard-fought second half.
