Paris Saint-Germain get the match underway from the kick-off!
Hello and welcome to our LIVE commentary of the Ligue 1 fixture between Paris Saint-Germain and Brest!
League-leading PSG look to go 11 points above nearest rivals Nice in their quest to recapture the Ligue 1 title with a win at home against Brest. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have been shaky of late though, drawing four of their last five matches in the league; scoring just five goals in that run.
Brest’s impressive run through November and the beginning of December saw them win six-straight matches in Ligue 1, however their form has tailed off recently with two losses and a draw in their last three - including 4-0 and 3-0 drubbings at the hands of Montpellier and Nice respectively.
BREST SUBS: Paul Lasne, Lilian Brassier, Gautier Larsonneur, Jere Uronen, Steve Mounie, Youssouph Mamadou Badji, Hianga’a M’Bock, Julien Faussurier.
BREST XI (4-4-2): Marco Bizot; Ronael Pierre-Gabriel, Brendan Chardonnet, Christophe Herelle, Jean-Kevin Duverne; Romain Faivre, Lucien Agoume, Hugo Magnetti, Franck Honorat; Jeremy Le Douaron, Irvin Cardona.
PSG SUBS: Sergio Rico, Sergio Ramos, Colin Dagba, Leandro Paredes, Danilo Pereira, Julian Draxler, Eric Ebimbe, Xavi Simons, Edouard Michut.
PSG XI (4-3-3): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Nuno Mendes, Presnel Kimpembe, Marquinhos, Thilo Kehrer; Ander Herrera, Marco Verratti, Georginio Wijnaldum; Kylian Mbappe, Mauro Icardi, Angel Di Maria.
With 15 minutes to go before kick-off, let’s take a look at how the two sides are lining up - starting with our hosts!
The only dampener on the first half from a PSG context is the late injury to Wijnaldum, whose appearance after the interval remains a question. Should a change be required, Pochettino can call upon the services of either Paredes or Pereira, both of whom are available. Brest will have to open up and push forward if they wish to gain anything from the match, with veteran midfielder Lasne and striker Mounie likely introductions in the second period.
That concludes our commentary of the Ligue 1 fixture between Paris Saint-Germain and Brest! We hope you’ve enjoyed it!
Paris Saint-Germain are in action again next Sunday, when they host Reims. Brest will look for a win in seven days when they welcome Lille to the Stade Francis Le Ble.
